International Menopause Society
                                                   


The aim of the International Menopause Society (IMS) is to promote knowledge, study and research on all aspects of ageing in men and women; to organize, prepare, hold and participate in international meetings and congresses on menopause and climacteric; and to encourage the interchange of research plans and experience between individual members.


The Jean Hailes Foundation

The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health is a non profit organisation focusing on the health needs of Australian women aged 35 plus.

The Foundation combines research, clinical care and community and health professional education and, and translates the latest research findings into practical health and lifestyle approaches for women and their health professionals.


The International Marce Society

Mental health support for babies and and their mothers.
The principal aim of the society is to promote, facilitate and communicate about research into all aspects of the mental health of women, their infants and partners around the time of childbirth. This involves a broad range of research activities ranging from basic science through to health services research.

The Society is multidisciplinary and encourages involvement from all disciplines including: psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, early childhood nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, community psychiatric nurses, community nurses and health visitors.

Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists

                           

The Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists is an Association of Psychiatrists from countries bordering the Pacific. Though primarily formed by academic psychiatrists, membership is open to psychiatrists in any area of practice.

The purpose of the College is to provide a forum for communication between psychiatrists in the range of countries around the Pacific, and this is particularly facilitated by a conference held every two years. There are also mail outs of newsletters between these conferences. The conferences provide an opportunity for the presentations of scientific papers, discussions on important issues in psychiatry, and consideration of the variety of clinical, social, political and ethical issues that tax psychiatrists in clinical practice, administration and the conducting of teaching and research in the Pacific countries.


beyondblue

beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety and related substance misuse disorders in Australia.

beyondblue is a bipartisan initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments with a key goal of raising community awareness about depression and reducing stigma associated with the illness.

beyondblue works in partnership with health services, schools, workplaces, universities, media and community organisations, as well as people living with depression, to bring together their expertise around depression.

beyondblue's five priorities:

1. Increasing community awareness of depression, anxiety and related
substance misuse disorders and addressing associated stigma.

2. Providing people living with depression and their carers with information on the illness and effective treatment options and promoting their needs and experiences with policy makers and healthcare service providers.

3. Developing depression prevention and early intervention programs.

4. Improving training and support for GPs and other healthcare professionals on depression.

5. Initiating and supporting depression-related research

 

North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology (NASPOG)

The aim of the Society is to foster scholarly scientific and clinical study of the biopsychosocial aspects of obstetric and gynecologic medicine. Although the primary focus is often on women, this does not preclude the study of men insofar as they are involved with women in couple communications, sexual, reproductive and parenting behavior. The aim is broadly defined to include the psychological, psychophysiological, public health, socio-cultural, ethical and other aspects of such functioning and behavior.
